There is A Killer on The Road

It's a beautiful day in Hyderabad- the sun is shining, birds are chirping. Wanna go out and search for some chicks?, have some fun and thrill?. What could be more exciting than a bike ride? But wait before you pull your bike out of the garage, know that each year we have at least 1 or 2 serious cases of bike accidents where IHM students are involved. Once you join IHM we all are part of same family. Remember that these family and friends also want to see you return after a ride.

Deep in my heart I still hide the sorrow of missing my brother; I am thankful to god that he is all right now. He is back because he had the will power to fight against the damages caused by the accident. But many of us won't be having that power, still now I can't forget the day we met with an accident and it will haunt me forever. Being a part of IHM family this is a request to my brothers....

"Even I do agree that biking is an experience. Anyone and everyone who is stretched on a flat road on a bike will know the immense pleasure involved with it. Biking makes you feel alive. The wind on the face, the thumping engines, and the throttle exhaust, all come together to produce an incomparable high-spirited pleasure.

But riding is NOT about how fast you go looking in shop windows and seeing how 'good' you look, or reviving your bike to see how 'nice' it sounds. These and other stupid act carried out by a small minority of motorcyclist that can spoil the good name of vast majority of motorcyclists. So IHMites please don't be a part of that minority"

Stay Safe on Two Wheels

Wear a helmet: no matter how careful you are, things beyond your control can conspire to pitch you down the road. When that happens, the only thing will make a difference in your future is whether you choose to wear a helmet. The choice between riding with no helmet and a helmet can be the difference between "living" as a vegetable or having a normal life. A full-face helmet can further improve the odds in our favor, and if you spend time shopping, you can find one that is actually more comfortable than riding bare head.
Don't drink and ride: This should go without saying, but I will anyway because so many riders still do it. Over a third of the people who get dead on motorcycle did some drinking shortly before. Even one beer is too much. Sometimes the difference between ride in the ambulance and merely elevating your respiratory rate is millimeters and microseconds of reaction time, which that one brew will use up. Save alcoholic refreshments for after ride-and well before the next one.

How to avoid "drink and drive" situation
Plan ahead and arrange alternative transport.
Share a taxi with friends.
Catch public transport.
Stay overnight at a friend's place.
Ride with a driver who hasn't been drinking
Arrange for a friend or relative to give you a lift.

BIKING IS FUN THRILL AND JOY.BUT FOR ME IT'S A PASSION.

"Don't Let Your Passion Kill You" (Enhance Your Riding Skills Before You Go For A Stoppy Or Wheelies).

1. Practice, Practice, Practice

You can practice your skills every time you ride. Brake hard every time you come to a stop without a car behind you. Practice weaving quickly between lane lines or around tar spots. Riders should be comfortable dragging their bikes' footrests in corners so they can use the available lean angle when they need it. These exercises will make you better able to ride your bike to its limits in a crisis.

A new riders skill should be exercised frequently. If you only ride on weekends ,your abilities will atrophy between rides, and you will have to rebuild them the next time you ride. Practice more on your riding skills. Before you go for a stoppy and wheelie makes sure of two things (1) there are enough people on the street watching you and they dont miss out your performance. (2) Be confident and do it with perfection, don't let your bike hit on the floor and spoil your name as a rider.

2. Keep your Bike in Good Shape

Regular performing a pre-ride walk-round check of your bike will teach you both how it works and what needs periodic adjustments as well helping you to catch something that has a problem before it becomes a safety threat. Tires are the most commonly ignored mechanical component, so make sure the pressure are per the manual. How ever, loose chains and improperly adjusted clutch, brakes, and control positions can also affect your motorcycle control. You might want to ask your dealer's service department about these things if the manual leaves you uncertain of how to handle them.

Give respect get respect
Respect your LIFE

We all enjoy the freedom of motorcycling & most of us have family & friends who welcome the enjoyment our pastime gives us.
These family & friends also want to see you return home after a ride . . .
LIFE is very fragile & on a motorcycle we are very vulnerable.
We do not have the protective shell of a car body surrounding us and in the event of an accident the motorcyclist usually comes worst off.
Whilst a car would go to a body shop and get a new wing a motorcyclist ends up in a hospital or a mortuary and we cannot replace a broken or damaged limb as easily.
Please respect your own life & return home safely after your ride. ;

Respect your Motorcycle
Motorcycles are NOT dangerous.
It is the person who sits on the bike and rides it that can make it dangerous.
The person who twists the throttle and applies the brakes is the person responsible.
Respect your motorcycle, understand it's features and capabilities and it will give you the respect you earn.

Respect Other Road Users
Ride with courtesy & caution - it could be another motorcyclist, a car, lorry or bus, a cyclist, a pedestrian, etc.
Sometimes other road users are not aware of your presence, motorcycles can make progress through traffic and 'appear'.
Think the unexpected - accidents occur between other road users..

"Your country needs you" - Please do NOT become another accident statistic
